Anonymous asked: No, there hasn't been any blood from either of them, but the last time they were fighting I broke it up and the older one ripped a hole in my hand. Cage size is definitely not a problem, but it's very likely that the older one views the cage as his territory. I'll look up the ratio of successful neuters and talk to the vets about it. Thanks.

Mod 2: Something you can try is introducing them in a neutral environment - for example, a bathtub is great because if they’re still being aggressive towards each other, you can put a bit of water in the bottom (which should distract them). Another helpful tip I’ve heard that you can combine with that one is to dab a bit of vanilla extract on their shoulders, so that their scents are masked. That way, they’re not smelling “NEW RAT POSSIBLE DANGER”, but a pleasant neutral scent. I hope things go well for you!
